What does NFPA stand for?

NFPA stands for the National Fire Protection Association, which is an international organization that has devoted its purpose to eliminating fire, electrical, or other related hazards that can cause a loss of life, injury, or other issues.

This organization publishes several codes applicable to facilities management. The codebook named NFPA 101, also known as the Life Safety Code, is one of the most well-known.

NFPA 101 addresses the minimum design, construction, operation, and maintenance requirements for keeping all types of buildings, and more importantly their occupants, from any danger caused by fire, smoke, and/or toxic fumes.

The most recent edition of this code is the 2021 edition.
