What is considered a high-rise building?

A high-rise building is defined as exceeding 75 ft. from the wheels of a fire truck to the highest occupiable floor. This was originally established due to the maximum fire truck ladder height and changes the fire fighting tactics. As such, high-rise buildings have additional fire protection and life safety features to aid with firefighter response.
