What is the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI)?

The Facility Guidelines Institute was formed in 1998 and became responsible for maintaining and updating the minimum standards for numerous categories of healthcare facilities. The Guidelines are developed by a committee of experts in healthcare facility operations, design, and construction called the Health Guidelines Revision Committee. Every four years the Guidelines are updated by the committee.
